Terms and conditions

The award ceremony for the Autarky Hardest Working Dog will take place at Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials 2020. The nomination processes, criteria and voting details (where applicable) for each category are outlined below:

Autarky Hardest Working Dog

The Autarky Hardest Working Dog Award goes to the dog whose actions have most captured the imagination of the UK public and a team of expert judges.

The overall winner will be selected by a team of expert judges from a shortlist of four dogs – one from each of the following categories (below). The winner of each category will be chosen by the UK public.

An expert independent panel will convene to decide the shortlist for each category. Autarky will provide the panel with an extensive list of the top dogs in each category, including information on their achievements.

Sports & Performance dogs

The panel will produce a shortlist of five hard-working dogs in the Sports and Performance category by reaching a consensus view, based on the following criteria:

  • They regularly participate in one of the following dog sports: agility, flyball, cani-cross, bikejor, obedience, rally obedience, sled-dog racing, heelwork to music, mushing, mantrailing.
  • They excel in their chosen sport and may have received previous accolade that recognises their success.
  • Are excellent ambassadors of their sport.
  • Reflect UK dog sporting achievements on the national and/or international stage.
  • They participate in a significant amount of their sport in the UK and live in the UK.

The shortlist of contenders will be announced in January. The public will then vote for the winner of the category from the five shortlisted dogs.

Service dogs

The panel will produce a shortlist of five hard-working dogs in the Service dogs category by reaching a consensus view, based on the following criteria:

  • They serve our country (the UK) as either a registered police, military, or search and rescue dog.
  • Have a great working temperament, are bold and courageous.
  • Have a specialised skillset, such as search and rescue, apprehension, being able to detect drugs, money, firearms, explosives.
  • Have proved to be an integral part of their team in fighting crime/protecting the UK and its residents.
  • May have won a previous award in recognition of their skills.
  • They primarily live in the UK.

The shortlist of contenders will be announced in February. The public will then vote for the winner of the category from the five shortlisted dogs.

Healthcare & Assistance dogs

The panel will produce a shortlist of five hard-working dogs in the Healthcare and Assistance category by reaching a consensus view, based on the following criteria:

  • They work for one of the following organisations: Pets As Therapy, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, Guide Dogs, Dogs For Good, Support Dogs, Medical Detection Dogs, The Seeing Dogs Alliance, Canine Partners, Dog AID, Service Dogs UK.
  • Have shown to have outstanding skills in supporting their owner/individual/group of individuals to the specified needs of their specific charity.
  • May have won a previous award in recognition of their skills.
  • They primarily live in the UK.

The shortlist of contenders will be announced in March. The public will then vote for the winner of the category from the five shortlisted dogs.

Media star dogs

The panel will produce a shortlist of five hard-working dogs in the Famous and Influencer category by reaching a consensus view, based on the following criteria:

  • They either work for a recognised pet modelling or pet acting agency.
  • And/or have their own social media account (either on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram) with a large following (over 10,000).
  • They bring joy to those who see them on the big or small screen.
  • They primarily live in the UK.

The shortlist of contenders will be announced in April. The public will then vote for the winner of the category from the five shortlisted dogs.

Public voting

The public voting for each category will be hosted by a secure, well-recognised and established voting platform called WooBox.

We have set a limitation to one vote per email address per category, to make sure that people can’t vote for their favourite multiple times throughout the voting period. If an individual clears their cookies or uses a different device/browser then they may be able to view the voting page again, and it will appear to them that they are casting another vote. However, this vote is not registered and will not be counted.

No automated or machine assisted email addresses used to vote will be accepted. We shall discount any votes which, in our reasonable opinion, appear to have used any of these methods.

Voting in this stage of the competition must adhere to the rules stated above.

 

STANDARD TERMS

In the event that any entrant does not, or is unable to comply with these Terms and Conditions or the Competition Information, Dodson and Horrell shall be entitled at its sole discretion to disqualify such entrant, without any further liability to such entrant. Entrants must comply with any directions given to them by Dodson and Horell including in relation to any and all relevant laws, rules and regulations.

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and you and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England.

Dodson and Horrell reserves the right to withdraw or amend any competition as necessary due to circumstances outside its reasonable control.

DATA & PRIVACY POLICY

As part of this competition, entrants and those voting will be providing us with their personal data via social media, email or via a third party app, Woobox.

Please note that we will only use your personal data to contact you as an entrant and no other parties will have access to your information. We will not store your data or use it for any other purpose than advised in these terms & conditions.
