Autarky sponsored Flyball team, Jets, registered an impressive championship victory against the Lightning Strikes in the twilight hours at this years’ British Flyball Association Outdoor Championship hosted in the grounds of Catton Park, Derbyshire. The winning team, which comprised of Alan with Alison O’Rourke, Mark with Amanda Cowle, Dust with Alayne Lamerton, Mark and Chino with Wayne O’Rourke and Lincoln Brookes (box loader) took the victory 3 games to 1 to a very warm reception from the crowd.
The championship was held over 18th – 20th August 2017 weekend, where 288 teams competed in 48 divisions with a variety of dog breeds and abilities taking part. It was great to see little Jack Russell’s in teams with Cocker Spaniels and Border Collies, with them all equally eager and keen to fetch the fly ball! The different divisions allowed for mixed abilities to compete with the quick and streamlined teams heads-up with one-another whilst new to the sport or the older dogs competing just for the fun of it. It was fantastic to talk to a number of participants throughout the weekend to learn about their training and feeding patterns, whilst also developing a greater understanding for the sport of Flyball. One dog owner told us that her dogs recent dietary change to Autarky’s Grain Free Turkey & Potato was the catalyst for her collie dog winning her first ever Flyball event after ten years, so that was absolutely fantastic to hear. It was evident that both handler and dog loved the sport, and had a clear affinity with one-another – this we are sure is the result of the hours of dedicated training that has gone in!
Everyone at Autarky would like to congratulate the Jets for their title win and to all of the other teams that took part. No matter whether you won your division, or finished last overall, everyone went home with their favourite dog(s) and that is really what it is all about.
